More info

Trinidad Moruga Scorpion is a pepper named after a South Eastern region in Trinidad. It's skin is textured, similar to an orange. The Moruga Scorpion's flavor has a more pronounced citrus, and is nuttier than the Butch T variety. This hot pepper has been tested, and rated hotter than the Bhut Jolokia at 1,041,427 million Scoville Units.

Cooking Ideas

The peppers are most commonly used in salsas, sauces and chili. Keep in mind only a very minimal amount of the pepper is needed to make a massively hot impact.

Health Benefits

  • It contains capsaicin which it's an inhibitor of something called Substance P, which triggers the inflammatory process. Capsaicin inhibits Substance P from causing inflammation or slows it down.
  • Eating pepper or chile powder may also have cardiovascular benefits by protecting the fats in your blood from free-radicals.
  • Chile peppers also give your immunity system a boost with their concentrated levels of beta-carotene and Vitamin A.

Warning

You should always wear gloves and handle Scorpion Peppers with extreme caution. We suggest wearing gloves, goggles, a mask, and long sleeve shirts when handling the product. Even the smallest amount on your skin will cause you extreme irritation.

Directions on how to Rehydrate

Place chiles in a bowl. Pour just enough boiling water over the pods to cover them. Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and allow to rest for approx. 10 minutes, or until chilis are soft and pliable.

How to Store

Store dried chiles (and chile powder) in an airtight container in a cool, dry, dark place. Although it is possible to store them for extended periods of time, it is better to use them within six months. If you do keep them longer, check through them occasionally and discard any that have spoiled.
